Remaking Art

I'm taking a mixed media class this semester, it's going to be wonderful but challenging. I've never really worked with "conceptual art" or art with a very defined purpose. My photography has purpose but I haven't dabbled much in set up shoots or the creative side of photography. So I am being pushed to my limits in the class as I try to pull creativeness out of every inch of my being.

Our first project was sitting in front of us the first day. "Find an image you like and sit with it" were the instructions, and unbeknownst to us, it would be our canvas. Fox has hundreds of these photographs in wooden frames from the 70's and while I'm sure they were riveting back then, they're quite dull today. So we are remaking them- into anything we want. Do you realize how open that is!? I am someone who still needs guidelines besides acrylics and anything you want...

Well I have two photographs that I'm working with and while my purple and blue pheasants sit in the art room drying, I'm working on my blue... crow? Here are some images from my current art endeavors...

This is what I've got so far.

Art will always be a passion of mine. Yet it challenges me every time I sit down...

Random things in my apartment... I don't have a coat rack, so my lamp takes on the burden...

Braving the Weather

On Monday we had a day off and thank the good Lord for that. Krista and Jackie were up for a shoot despite the intermittent rain and wind and cold temperatures. It's always fun to work with friends and we can laugh and not care about anything. Despite the weather, and some funny/awkward moments, here's the result:

Enjoy!
